This Privacy Policy describes how Acumen (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit tryacumen.ai, use our chatbot service, or receive operator notifications from us by SMS. By using our website or service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Who We Are

Acumen provides an AI chatbot service for website support and sales lead generation. Our customers embed our chatbot on their websites, and our service routes conversations from their site visitors to human operators when escalation is needed.

Information We Collect

From visitors to tryacumen.ai: standard web analytics data including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring URLs.

From customers who create an Acumen account: name, email address, mobile phone number (if SMS notifications are enabled), company name, billing information, and account credentials.

From end users of customer websites: chat transcripts, page URLs where chats originate, and any contact information that end users voluntarily provide during a chat session. This information is collected on behalf of our customers, who control how it is used.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Acumen service
  • Send operator notifications, including SMS alerts, when configured by the customer
  • Respond to support requests
  • Send transactional emails about your account, billing, and service updates
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

SMS and Text Messaging

When a customer enables SMS notifications for their account, designated operators receive text message alerts when a website visitor requests human handoff or when other conversation events occur.

Opt-in: Operators provide their mobile number and consent to receive SMS messages during account setup or when adding their number to operator notification settings.

Message frequency:Message frequency varies based on the volume of escalation events on the customer’s website.

Carrier charges: Message and data rates may apply.

Opt-out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from SMS notifications. You will receive a confirmation message, after which no further texts will be sent unless you re-enroll.

Carrier-mandated disclosure: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support of services provided by Acumen (such as customer support and message delivery) is permitted. All other categories of personal information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers: With vendors who help us operate the service, including hosting, payment processing, and SMS delivery (such as Twilio). These vendors are contractually limited to processing data on our behalf.

Our customers: If you interact with a chatbot powered by Acumen on a third-party website, your chat content and any information you provide is shared with the operator of that website, who is the controller of that data.

Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will provide notice before information is transferred.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
